With the help of the resounding success of the John Wick series, the actor was directly returned to the radar of fans. The highly anticipated The Matrix Resurrections, which was released in theaters in December 2021, cemented his return to the Hollywood A-lister.
Keanu Reeves is loved for his immense talent and range. In the past, he’s been able to go from full-length action movies like Speed and Point Break to sci-fi thrillers like the Matrix trilogy to dramas like The Lake House. Most recently, he starred in John Wick 3: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and the Netflix rom-com Always Be My Maybe, played John Silverhand in E3’s Cyberpunk 2077 video game,
He lent his voice to Pixar’s Toy Story 4. With the continuing trend of re-production. and revival, many classic Keanu franchises, such as Bill & Ted and The Matrix, have been revived.

DC League Of Super-Pets – May 20, 2022
Keanu Reeves’ next confirmed role is a voice-over in the DC animated film League of Super-Pets. Reeves’ personality has not been revealed. The film, which combines the superhero genre with an animated family comedy, stars Dwayne Johnson as Superman’s dog Crypto, who brings together a team of other super powerful animals to fight evil. Other voice cast members include Kevin Hart, Natasha Lyonne, John Krasinski, Marc Maron, Kate McKinnon, and Jamil Jamil. The film shows the changes in the DC Extended Universe’s approach to a wider range of tunes across various projects.
John Wick Chapter 4 & 5 – May 27, 2022 / TBD 2023
Shortly after the release of John Wick Chapter 3 – Parabellum in May 2019, it was confirmed that John Wick will return for more future projects John Wick Chapter 4. The next installment of the franchise is scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2022 Originally scheduled for release In May 2021, but was postponed due to the pandemic. John Wick 5 has also been confirmed. John Wick 5 will initially be released sometime in 2023, although a specific release date has yet to be confirmed.

While there is fan speculation about the characters who will appear in John Wick chapters four and five, it’s clear that Reeves will reprise his role as the world’s hunted killer, John Wick. Parabellum focused on Wake trying to take out other killers looking to make money off the bounty placed on his head after he was deemed “communicado” after the events of John Wick 2. Reeves also expressed an interest in acting in John Wick’s TV spinoff The Continental, which The hotel guild will explore when it is not dealing with its favorite client.

One of Keanu Reeves’ most upcoming character projects will be the direct adaptation of BRZRKR, which is originally a comic book series co-written by him and Matt Kindt, with illustrations by Ron Garney. Reeves is set to produce the adaptive film, which has been officially selected by Netflix. In addition to producing and starring in the film, Reeves will also lend his voice to the comic book character “B”, half-human/half-god, in the animated sub-series. These two projects were only announced recently and have no release date.
An obvious throwback to action-focused Keanu Reeves movies like Speed, Reeves’ Rally Car has been in production trouble for a few years now. Since 2017, the Rally Car has been greenlit but looking for an exit, eventually landing on the Taken 2 and Transporter 3, Olivier Megaton. According to a 2017 report from The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves will play a bullet-riddled former NASCAR driver who finds himself in a rally car race in China. There’s no word yet on a release date, information submission, and it’s not clear why there was a delay moving forward with filming or distribution.

Reeves will remain in action with the TV mini-series Rain, based on the Barry Eisler books. Reeves will serve as the lead of the mini-series as well as one of the show’s producers. Suggesting to John Wick’s influence, the future project will see Keanu Reeves play John Rayne, a half-Japanese, half-American serial killer who specializes in making it look like his targets died of natural causes. Reeves’ co-stars include Cherry Jones, Corbin Reid, and Owen Kline. As of now, there is no release date for the mini-series, nor has it gone into production.

Keanu Reeves’ next project coming to Netflix is director Rick Famoiwa’s upcoming Dope movie, After Midnight. The text will be written by T.J. Fixman (Ratchet & Clank) and Avengers: Endgame Produced by Joe and Anthony Russo. Past Midnight feels like a return to familiar territory for Reeves and a whole new territory for Famuyiwa: “a feature about a new kind of superhero guarding.” There are no further details on the cast or character of Reeves, but it’s definitely worth keeping a close eye on Past Midnight.
